Below you will find information about the various coverages we recommend.

AND REMEMBER THAT OUR CANCELLATION POLICY IS STRICT, SO IF YOU DECLINE CANCELLATION COVERAGE THEN please DON’T ASK US FOR AN EXEMPTION.

COVERAGES EXPLAINED

Travel Medical Insurance*

Cover medical expenses if you get sick or injured.

Trip Cancellation/Interruption

Reimbursement if you have to cancel your Wayfinders Adventure, or your Adventure is cut short because of injury/illness.

NOTE: regular cancellation/interruption insurance is limited to specific cancellation reasons (e.g. you get sick/injured before your Adventure, or a close family member becomes sick). There are many other reasons why you might cancel that are not covered by regular cancellation insurance. For that reason, we recommend you get CFAR insurance (see below)

Cancel-For-Any-Reason Insurance (CFAR)

Insurance that covers you for any cancellation reason, including simply changing your mind. If you want ultimate peace of mind and coverage, get this coverage.

NOTE: CFAR insurance typically requires that you purchase it soon after signing up for your Adventure (1-3 weeks), and cancel with a certain amount of notice (e.g. 1 week) before the Adventure. Reimbursement is typically limited to 50-75% of the total trip cost.

*Travel medical insurance is mandatory for all Wayfinders experiences.

*You may have travel medical coverage through your credit card or other source, however you need to ensure that it covers you for:

  • evacuation, in case of injury or illness in a remote location

  • the destination(s) you’ll be traveling to

  • the activities we’ll be doing

We strongly recommend you get CANCEL-FOR-ANY-REASON - or AT LEAST trip cancellation - insurance. DO THIS WITHIN 21 days of signup.

If you choose to ignore this advice, please do not ask us for an exception to our cancellation policies.

OUR RECOMMENDATION: TRAWICK INTERNATIONAL

We’ve done exhaustive research to find an insurance partner that offers the most suitable and comprehensive coverage for Wayfinders members.

Trawick offers basic travel medical (for all travellers), cancellation/interruption insurance (for Canadian/US travellers) and Cancel-For-Any-Reason insurance (for US travellers, and Canadian travellers starting in early 2026).

Plus they offer an Adventure Sports add-on that covers you for the types of activities you’re likely to be doing on a Wayfinders Adventure.

Their cancellation insurance costs more than most other options, but in return you get peace of mind knowing that you’re well-covered and won’t have a claims adjuster coming up with bulls@#$ fine print to deny you coverage.

  • NOTE: For all policies, choose ‘Multiple Destinations - excluding US’ if you’re visiting multiple countries on your travels.

    Basic Medical Coverage: Click here to purchase Safeway Travels Outbound insurance.
    Increase the Medical Maximum to $500,000. Change the other settings according to your preferences.

ALTERNATIVES

If you’re looking for cheaper alternatives to Trawick for cancellation insurance, check out these options (although we really recommend not cheaping out on this):

US CITIZENS

WorldNomads’ Explorer package will cover you for $10,000 USD in trip cancellation coverage.

CANADIANS

HeyMondo offers the best trip cancellation insurance for Canadians. Their coverage will give you up to $7000 USD in trip cancellation coverage, and also include trip interruption and travel medical coverage. Make sure you add the ‘Adventure Sports’ option.

TOPPING UP: Since your Wayfinders event cost is more than the Heymondo coverage amount of $7000 USD, if you want to cover the full amount including your flights*, you should top up your HeyMondo coverage with an additional WorldNomads policy (to get an additional $5000 CAD).

INTERNATIONAL
